Background
I hold dual citizenship between the U.S. (Dad's side) and the U.K. (Mum's side). I grew up in the Lower Hudson Valley of NY, and was lucky to spend many summers visiting family upstate in the Adirondacks region, out west in Oregon, and across the pond in England.
Hobbies
In my spare time, I really enjoy being active outdoors; I love soccer, volleyball, tennis, rock climbing, sailing, hiking, backpacking, camping, and roadtripping. I also enjoy cooking (& eating – especially spicy, vinegary, or umami foods), reading (fiction mostly), listening to music, playing cards, and film photography.
Some cool jobs I've had in the past
- Backpacking Guide in Colorado with Avid4Adventure and in the Catskills with Columbia COÖP.
- Head Manager of Postcrypt Coffeehouse, an entirely student-run underground live music venue in the basement of St. Paul's Chapel at Columbia University.
- Darkroom Assistant at Columbia's darkroom.
- Outreach Director and Debate Coach at Youth for Debate.
Some books I've read recently
- The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
- Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari
Some music I love
Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers, Yo La Tengo, Radiohead, SZA, Queen, alt-J, Helado Negro, Willow, Lambchop, Laura Marling, Bill Callahan, Katie Dey, Nicolas Jaar, Yumi Zouma... it's a long list...
Weird things
- I had a Spanish news article written about me because I happened to live in the same dorm room as the famous poet Federico García Lorca. The journalist took a lot of... creative liberties in writing it and the event still confuses me to this day.
- I've been told I can do a good Kronk impression.
- I can whistle and hum at the same time.
